It is Sunday, September 26th and I find myself post-pig-swim-experience editing our website with the most rudimentary skills and fluctuating internet quality. We've been over 1600 nautical miles at this point and are well on our way to Marmaris. It is there (or sooner) that we hope to catch up with Dave and Tina of Big Sky (close friends made when we first brought the yacht from Barcelona to Sant Carles) and possibly see Mike and Lucy from Mountsorrel who plan to be in Marmaris on holiday. The latter of which we lost contact of due to Covid (yeah, yeah, blaming Covid again) and so many other people before we made our getaway, and the Delta variant set in to have its two cents worth.
Since my last/first SLOG post of the halyard havoc, it managed to fail us again. Which told us it wasn't a fluke and the rigging we already knew needs some replacing, or at the very least some TLC, has rendered the genoa useless for the trip. A kind rigger named Paul, recommended to us by George at the local Chandlery in Nidri Greece, affirmed this fact and sent us away with some photos of the offending shroud to present to M2 Riggers when we arrive in Turkey.
Prior to that here is where we were, mostly in order from Mallorca to today: Minorca, Sardinia, Rome-ish (overnight on the hook), Capri, Gaetta, Calabria, La Castella, Straits of Messina, Saint Maria de Leuca, Saranda, Corfu* (see the story of Meeting Alan and Marie-Jean to follow), Preveza, Nidri and Atokos Island.
I'll try to put the photos in our 'Photos' section into proper folders in some semblance of order so you can click and view our life through the lens as you please.
Until next time, I'm going to go take a bower—tune here to find out what that is!
